WHERE ARE WE?
Two months of ocean. A storm that shouldn't exist. And now, sand.
The ship of the New Era's inaugural expedition is scattered timber in the tide. The Hunters wake on a beach that is on no map, too clean, too silent, without a single body from the wreck. The Exiled Continent receives them like a grave.
The expedition's first question is the simplest of all: where are we?
Purify Water
Thirst arrives before fear. You boil seawater in silence and notice that no gull crosses the sky, no fish jumps, nothing on the shore makes sound but you. Then someone points at the horizon. Thin, dark towers rise against the light, like stone fingers coming out of the continent. None of them is on any map. And all of them seem to be looking back.
Keep the Signal Fire
Smoke rises all day. No one answers. But at night, at the edge of the firelight, a thin, tall silhouette watches, motionless, without blinking. When you blink, it is gone. Only the marks in the sand remain, two deep trails that come from the sea and stop in the middle of the beach, as if whoever made them was taken back to the water.
Night Watch
On watch, something walks between the dunes with a step that is not human. You wake no one. Then a light flickers inside the ruins, once, twice, as if someone were answering your fire. In the morning, you choose to believe it was exhaustion. But you know it was not.
Keep Your Sanity
The silence eats away slowly. You close your eyes and try to hear your own breath. You hear yours. And, deep in the distance, coming from the direction of the towers, a low sound that almost sounds like a voice, almost like a chant. You open your eyes. The ocean is silent again.
